Capacity building for non-profit organizations

The first step was to assess the Association's current capacities and identify gaps to make tailored workshops in the following fields:

a) Communication with the public and public speaking - In close cooperation with the Association's members, I developed and guided members through interactive workshops on how to communicate the Associaton's main goals and objectives to the public through diverse media and how to effectively engage with key stakeholders and local community.

b) Diversification of funding opportunities - I guided the Association's members through information on potential project funding sources (tenders and donors), steps and actions on how to form new partnerships and engage in networking activities, how to develop quality relationships with current partners and the future ones, and detailed information on fundraising: when it is used, what are the challenges, what makes a good fundraiser, and types of fundraising sources.

c) Economic activities for NGOs - I provided up-to-date information on legislation regarding NGOs and economic activities to the Association's members.

d) Development of a mini-business plan - We developed a mini-business plan jointly for the Association. This helped them diversify their sources of income and put them on the market for specific services they provide to their members and anyone interested.

Communication and presentation skills - The Association's members needed the skill to effectively communicate their messages to the public. Thus, I engaged them in an interactive workshop on how to use PowerPoint for presentations and communication. We worked on their verbal and non-verbal communication, enhancing their skills in presenting and communicating and feeling relaxed in front of the media.
